Welcome to NerdReviews.net!! This is a brand-new site, dedicated to
reviewing the often overlooked products that make a computer nerd's life
interesting. We feel that it's quite possible to tweak-out your computer's
hardware and software without spending a fortune, if you know where to look.
This site will include computer parts and case mods, cool
drive-bay devices, small gizmos and electronics, gadgets with lots of
blinky lights, pocket tools, and some software. We'll also
occasionally include a "how-to" on various minor modification projects
for computer cases and some of the products we review, as well as write a
few editorials and commentaries.
This site is intentionally designed to be non-flashy and simple. Why?
Because not everyone out there has broadband connections, and we feel
that content should be easily accessible without waiting a few years
for the page to load. This site is designed using plain HTML and is
not reliant on any third-party plug-ins, and is Lynx-friendly. No frills,
just information!
You'll notice we also do not use a scoring system in our reviews. This
is because we feel that product quality can not simply be quantified into
a relative continuum, especially since individual consumer needs may vary
greatly. With that in mind, reviews list the pros and cons that we've been
able to ascertain. We leave it up to the readers to then decide whether the
product will meet their needs. We feel that this methodology will do the
greatest good for the customer in the long run.
UPDATE 2005.06.15 - Obviously this site never really took off. My
current plan is to keep it around, but I suspect that future updates will
be few and far between. I hope you still find the articles we have here
useful and interesting. Thanks for reading.
Several new things are in the pipeline. Some minor updates and revisions
have been made to the Zen Devices
page, hosted on Bones' personal site. Additionally, we have some products
in mind for reviews in the near future, such as the HP iPaq PocketPC, some
PC software products, and a variety of LCD and VFD text displays for your
PC drive-bays.

We're in the process of adding some new reviews, the first of which
are available here:
We are deeply saddened by this weekend's loss of the space shuttle Columbia
and it's crew. Reaching towards the stars and breaking the bonds of Earth's
gravity is a risky dream, and their loss will not be in vain.
This site is getting off to a gradual start, as we expected, but never fear!
More reviews and how-to's are on the way. We have a few products in mind,
and are researching others and soliciting review units from multiple manufacturers.
DNS seems to be propagating nicely, so the site should be becoming
accessible now. The site was created yesterday, as was the first review.
We're really excited about the possibilities for this site. Thanks for reading!

Disclaimer: While the authors take great care to report information as
accurately as possible, reviews by their very nature are subjective and as such
should be treated as opinion rather than fact. We can not guarantee the validity
of any information or claims presented within.
Caution: When working with electronics and performing modifications, you
do so at your own risk. Often opening a device or modifying it will void the
manufacturer's warranty, and we do not assume any responsibiity for any injury, damage
or loss of property or life resulting from your efforts. There is a risk of damaging
the electronics with static discharge, and also the risk of electric shock. Always
make sure that AC devices are unplugged before opening them, and be aware that moderate
sized capacitors have been known to hold a significant charge for up to several days,
capable of a lethal discharge. Always use caution when working on electronics, and do
so at your own risk.
